{"id":407300,"date":"2024-03-21T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-21T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=407300"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"DPS-responds-to-over-100-calls-last-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/DPS-responds-to-over-100-calls-last-week\/","title":{"rendered":"DPS responds to over 100 calls last week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Public Safety responded to over 100 calls last week, including 95 criminal-related incidents and 30 traffic-related incidents.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police blotter dated March 10-16, DPS responded to a total of 125 calls last week and made 14 arrests.<\/p>\n<p>The police blotter states that police responded to three assault incidents; eight assault and battery incidents; one assault with a dangerous weapon incident; three nuisance incidents; nine domestic violence incidents; 45 disturbing the peace incidents; two criminal trespass incidents; two child abuse\/neglect incidents; two illegal possession incidents; four burglary incidents; 15 theft incidents; and one sexual assault incident.<\/p>\n<p>As for traffic incidents, the DPS police blotter reports that police responded to seven auto run off roadway incidents; seven auto parked vehicle incident; three auto hit and run incidents; three driving under the influence incidents; eight auto fixed object incidents; and two vehicle theft incidents.<\/p>\n<p>DPS spokesperson Fred Sato previously said that as part of DPS\u2019 goals, it has decided to issue weekly police blotter reports that detail the number of reports made in the last week, what incidents were reported, and how many arrests were made in that week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s important for the public to know what our officers are doing on a daily basis,\u201d said Sato.<\/p>\n<p>Sato added that the numbers provided based on the blotter reports are calls made to DPS and response of its officers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll active criminal complaints are taken, then forwarded to our Criminal Investigation Bureau.
