{"id":407525,"date":"2024-04-22T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=407525"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"GCA-HMS-undefeated-in-girls-MS-hoops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/GCA-HMS-undefeated-in-girls-MS-hoops\/","title":{"rendered":"GCA, HMS undefeated in girls MS hoops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grace Christian Academy Lady Eagles and Hopwood Middle School Hilitais are undefeated so far in the IT&amp;E Interscholastic Girls Middle School Basketball League 2023-2024 after they won their games last Wednesday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Eagles squeezed their fifth win in as many games after their win over the Mount Carmel Lady Knights, 21-13, while HMS won their fourth in as many games with a win against Tanapag Middle School, 30-14.<\/p>\n<p>GCA\u2019s Neveah Camacho got things going with a basket and followed it up with a 3-pointer to get a headstart over the Knights. The Knights didn\u2019t score until much later after unsteady ball handling.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Eagles\u2019 momentum put them up with a big lead but MCS\u2019 Anjoelena Villagomez added 3 more points. However, GCA\u2019s Camacho added 6 more points and with 2 from Aaleyah-Melisa Fatialofa and Wylynn Pua, they were up, 15-4 at the end of the first half.<\/p>\n<p>GCA kept up their momentum but not without say from MCS\u2019 Villagomez and Cassidee Flores as they tried to close the gap. Time ended though and GCA won by 8 points as Camacho finished with 13 points and Fatialofa put up 4.<\/p>\n<p>For HMS, Maria Enriquez led the way to their fourth win as she cruised through the courts despite a slight injury. She scored a game-high 17 points, while Paulette Somol contributed 6.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, TMS\u2019 Kayshlie Aguon was the lone scorer for her team and put up their total of 14 points.<\/p>\n<p>In other results that night, Francisco M. Sablan Middle School notched their first win as they defeated Chacha Ocean View Middle School, 19-13; and Dandan Middle School varsity overwhelmed their junior varsity team, 20-4.<\/p>\n<p>After GCA and HMS in the varsity standings is DMS with a 4-1 record; FMS is at 1-3; TMS has a 1-4 record; MCS are at 2-3; and COVMS have yet to win at four losses.<\/p>\n<p>The championship round starts on May 2-3, with the championships set for May 4 at 12pm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GCA 21 \u2013<\/strong> Camacho 13, A.
