The Natives were down on their luck as they went scoreless in the first two innings and gave way to 3 more runs for Sandlot who made it 6-0.

At this point, Sandlot’s third batter in the order, Lamarc Iguel, got on base twice and scored twice, just as cleanup hitter Kimo Angailen did. The middle of their lineup including Byron Kaipat and Luis Iguel did their job and brought them home.

But then, the Natives found their spark and scored 3 in the third and three in the fourth to tie it up, 6-6.

Natives pitcher Keahi Omupas and the defense behind him had a tough time keeping the game tied as 3 more runs would score for Sandlot from mishaps on the field to make it 9-6 at the end of the fourth.

It was a battle of lefty pitchers as Sandlot pitcher Reid Teregeyo tried his best to keep the lead. He maneuvered through the Natives’ lineup in the fifth and kept the score at 9-6. However, Sandlot’s offense was at a standstill as well and the game remained tied at 9-6.

Then, Sandlot’s Lamarc Iguel and Angailen scored again in the sixth to make it 11-6. The Natives had a chance to rally in the seventh after they scored one in the sixth for a 11-7 game.

The Natives’ spirits were still high as they hacked away at Sandlot’s lead with a run by Cameron Tomai. Larson Sibetang then scored later to make it 9-11, but Sandlot’s defense and pitching held on and registered the minimum three outs to secure their first win of the season.

In other results last Wednesday, the Royals slipped past the White Sox, 10-9, and the Braves got one in the win column after a 6-2 game over Blue Shark.

A Sandlot runner slides to second base in the nick of time as Natives’ second base man juggles the pickoff throw from the catcher during their game last Thursday in the 2024 Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

-LEIGH GASES

Sandlot bagged their first win in the 2024 Saipan Baseball League after an 11-9 victory…

[5

post-407546","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sports
["GET
