Found in Spoon River Anthology.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><h4>TRUMP the TWIT FULL OF SPIT<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>A GOOGOLPLEX OF LIES<\/p>\n<p>From me an unknown number of lies<\/p>\n<p>The very essence of my being<\/p>\n<p>With malice towards all, charity for none<\/p>\n<p>From me expulsion of all migrants<\/p>\n<p>Ridiculing the military heroes of war<\/p>\n<p>And bringing disgrace to our nation<\/p>\n<p>Scamming and avoiding justice and truth<\/p>\n<p>I am Donald J Trump, King of Mar-a-Lago<\/p>\n<p>Avoided in life by all living US presidents.<\/p>\n<p>Obsessed with myself and more money<\/p>\n<p>My prevarication will live on forever!<\/p>\n<p>My tweets filled with twit and twaddle<\/p>\n<p>My mouth denigrates the living and dead<\/p>\n<p>My life an egregious googolplex of lies.<\/p>\n<p><em>What follows are two parodies of William Shakespeare\u2019s\u00a0<\/em><em>Sonnet 29. Here are its first two lines and last two lines:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen in disgrace with fortune and men\u2019s eyes<\/p>\n<p>I all alone beweep my outcaste state, \u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings<\/p>\n<p>That then I scorn to change my state with kings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Was W.S prescient about DJT or what? My parodies:<\/p>\n<p><h4>WHEN IN DISGRACE WITH FAKE NEWS\u2026<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>When in disgrace with fake news and lying media\u2019s eyes<\/p>\n<p>I throw childish temper tantrums about my outcast state<\/p>\n<p>I grow bald and round and tell many more lies<\/p>\n<p>Too blind with presidential power to ascertain my fate.<\/p>\n<p>Wishing only for more golf games and riches I hope<\/p>\n<p>to use my smarts, the stable genius that only I possess<\/p>\n<p>conspiring with V. Putin and Russian oligarchs scope<\/p>\n<p>What I enjoy most is being on my own golf course.<\/p>\n<p>Despite my being so smart some are still despising<\/p>\n<p>instinctively I think of me and my Secretary of State<\/p>\n<p>with the price of Middle East oil per barrel then rising<\/p>\n<p>from Saudi Arabia up to the Northern Arctic Gates<\/p>\n<p>liquid largesse for me increasing my wealth and bling<\/p>\n<p>that then I know I am,\u2018Believe Me\u2019 an American King.<\/p>\n<p><h4>My PRESIDENCY in DISGRACE in the Nation\u2019s Eyes<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>My Presidency in disgrace in the nation\u2019s Eyes<\/p>\n<p>I all alone tweet my utterly confused state<\/p>\n<p>and trouble the generals with baby boy cries<\/p>\n<p>so sad I\u2019m not bigly making America great.<\/p>\n<p>Wish I was like that man from a place called Hope<\/p>\n<p>Articulate like him, a policy wonk and computer nerd<\/p>\n<p>Desirous and jealous of his ability to speak and cope<\/p>\n<p>Instead, I belittle and insult others with every word<\/p>\n<p>Yet in these thoughts filled with self-loathing<\/p>\n<p>I think of money and how much I\u2019m making<\/p>\n<p>and obstinately fold my arms inside my clothing<\/p>\n<p>continuing bombastic demagoguery and faking.<\/p>\n<p>For bling and bucks remembered on this occasion<\/p>\n<p>dispel thoughts of going to prison for tax evasion.<\/p>\n<p><em>(these two appeared in the<\/em> Saipan Tribune <em>04\/30\/2018.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/imgupload\/51ec1f1100d5d7eea9228e5f43276c9f.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Joey aka &#8220;Pepe Batbon&#8221; Connolly is a retired educator who taught in the CNMI, NOLA, and LVNV.
