{"id":407848,"date":"2024-04-24T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-24T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=407848"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"MHS-SSHS-dominate-last-day-of-athletics-qualifiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/MHS-SSHS-dominate-last-day-of-athletics-qualifiers\/","title":{"rendered":"MHS, SSHS dominate last day of athletics qualifiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marianas High School Dolphins and Saipan Southern High School Manta Rays dominated Event B on the last day of the NMA\/PSS All-Schools Track and Field 2023-2024 18U\/14U qualifiers last Wednesday at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field.<\/p>\n<p>Event B consisted of the 100m, 400m, 1,500m, javelin, and long jump events.<\/p>\n<p>MHS was first overall in four events\u201418U boys 400m, 18U boys 1,500m, 18U boys long jump, and 18U boys javelin events, while SSHS topped four as well\u201418U boys and girls 100m, 18U girls 400m, and 18U girls long jump events.<\/p>\n<p>Cody Shimizu of MHS topped the 400m event with a time of 55.04 seconds, while Grace Christian Academy\u2019s Theodore Rodgers came in next at 57.21 seconds, and third went to Agape Christian School\u2019s Jireh Wang at 58.04 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Shimizu was also first in the long jump event with a distance of 5.30m; second was Kagman High School\u2019s Reed Camacho at 5.06m; and third went to ACS\u2019 Joseph Yang with a distance of 4.94m.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1,500m race, MHS\u2019 Pony Tang was the fleetest afoot and clocked in at 4:42.27; second was ACS\u2019 Samuel Zhu at 4:44.63; and third place went to MHS\u2019 Takeru Jim with a time of 4:45.64. MHS\u2019 Mokyang Kim then grabbed first place in the javelin throw with a distance of 40.20m; KHS\u2019 Anthony Kubo was second at 37.75m; and third went to KHS\u2019 Javen Camacho at 37.40m.<\/p>\n<p>For the Manta Rays, Christopher Cruz sprinted into first place in the 100m boys race with a time of 11.88 seconds; second went to KHS\u2019 Justin Camacho at 12.10 seconds; and Rodgers was third with a time of 12.16 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>SSHS\u2019 Casey Cruz then smoked everyone else and came in first overall with a time of 13.11 seconds in the 100m girls race. Second went to teammate Haani Passi at 14.50 seconds, while third was ACS\u2019 Mary Zhu at 15.07 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Casey was then first again in the 400m race with a time of 1:07.84, while Mary was second at 1:09.73.
