Youth fishing nonprofit organization Tasi To Table announced that its student member-led fishing derby, the 5th Annual Wahoo in the Marianas, is set for June 1, 2024, from 6am to 5pm at the Smiling Cove Marina.<\/p>\n

Registration will take place on May 31, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at the Smiling Cove Marina. Registration fees for each participating vessel include $200 for each vessel, consisting of one captain and two anglers, with $30 for each additional angler.<\/p>\n

This derby, which was originally scheduled for March 23, 2024, had to be postponed due to high winds and rough waters forecasted during that weekend. Rescheduling the derby was a challenge for TTT, given that April and May this year are both eventful months.<\/p>\n

\u201cTTT\u2019s officers met recently to schedule and agree on a new date for the WIM. It was a difficult decision to push it to June, but we had to since April and May are going to be a busy couple of months for TTT and other community organizations as well,\u201d said TTT president Gene Weaver.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring these two months we\u2019re looking at a fishing derby from another organization; walkathon; marathon; golf tournament; fiesta; and upcoming high school proms and graduations, which will affect how many student volunteers we will have during the derby. TTT\u2019s also gearing up for our first-ever veterans-focused fishing derby in May. Because of all these factors, we decided to hold the derby in June,\u201d Weaver continued.<\/p>\n

The Wahoo in the Marianas is an annual fishing derby held for TTT\u2019s students, by TTT\u2019s students. For this derby, solicitations, marketing, and event planning are managed by TTT\u2019s student members, and money raised through the derby goes directly toward TTT\u2019s student program.
