{"id":409146,"date":"2024-05-24T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-24T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=409146"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"CEC-to-start-voter-registration-drive-on-Saipan-starting-June-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/CEC-to-start-voter-registration-drive-on-Saipan-starting-June-1\/","title":{"rendered":"CEC to start voter registration  drive on Saipan starting June 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Election Commission will conduct a voter registration drive on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota in preparation for the Nov. 5, 2024 general election.<\/p>\n<p>According to the CEC yesterday, acceptance of nominating petition of candidacy will also be conducted on Tinian and Rota on July 8 and 9.<\/p>\n<p>CEC administrative officer Ambrosio Lisua said they will issue a separate announcement regarding acceptance of nominating petition of candidacy on Saipan because they will be accepting petitions at their office and not at the registration drive locations.<\/p>\n<p>Lisua also disclosed that as of yesterday, there was an overall total of 17,877 registered voters in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>CEC record shows that Saipan and Northern Islands have 14,643 registered voters, Tinian has 1,540, while Rota has 1,694.<\/p>\n<p>On Saipan, the voter registration drive will be on June 1 at the Kagman Community Center, June 8 at the Tanapag Youth Center, June 15 at the San Vicente Youth Center and Koblerville Youth Center, and on June 22 at the Carolinian Affairs Office. Registration will be held from 8:30am to 1:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>On Tinian, the voter registration drive and acceptance of nominating petition of candidacy will be conducted on July 8 to 9 at the Tinian Public Library from 7:30am to 4:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>On Rota, the voter registration drive and acceptance of nominating petition of candidacy will be conducted on July 8 and 9 at the Rota Man Amko Center from 7:30am to 4:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates from recognized parties Republican\/Democratic submitting nominating petitions must provide certification of nomination by a recognized political party, candidacy certification, waiver, candidate\u2019s committee organizational report, original payment receipt, and petition signatures.<\/p>\n<p>CEC said candidates from independent\/non-partisan submitting nominating petitions must provide candidacy certification, waiver, candidates committee organizational report, original payment receipt, and petitions.
