Here are two secular prayers for mothers. Both were published last year on May 16th and May 23rd respectively in the Saipan Tribune. Both revised.<\/em><\/p>\n

OUR MOTHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n

Our mother who is up in heaven above<\/p>\n

honored be thy name and family with you<\/p>\n

your children here on earth send all their love<\/p>\n

thank you for all your work, giving birth too.<\/p>\n

Give us this day your mother\u2019s delicious old recipes<\/p>\n

for scalloped potatoes and Boston baked beans<\/p>\n

cottage pudding cake, ham and black-eyed peas<\/p>\n

and homemade cocoa we drank through our teens<\/p>\n

Forgive me mother for not helping you more<\/p>\n

and spending my allowance at the candy store<\/p>\n

so I avoided the smallest household chore<\/p>\n

complaining that washing the dishes was a bore<\/p>\n

I hope to see you in heaven if I ever get there<\/p>\n

Until then my dear Mother know that I care.<\/p>\n

MOTHERLY LOVE: A GOOGOLPLEX LITANY<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n

Billions of galaxies in the universe we know<\/p>\n

Billions of stars in those galaxies galore<\/p>\n

Billions of planets where things might grow<\/p>\n

Billions of grains of sand on their shore<\/p>\n

Millions of birds fly around the world<\/p>\n

Millions of worms, bugs, flying insects<\/p>\n

Millions of flowers with petals unfurled<\/p>\n

Millions of creatures reproduce by sex<\/p>\n

Billions of mothers living here on Earth<\/p>\n

Billions of mothers give all they can give<\/p>\n

Millions of mothers annually give birth<\/p>\n

Millions of mothers die so that we can live<\/p>\n

Mothers teach us all with love and mirth<\/p>\n

Pouring out their hearts for all its worth.<\/p>\n
