{"id":409678,"date":"2024-05-02T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-02T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=409678"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"GRMC-to-permit-outside-food-for-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/GRMC-to-permit-outside-food-for-patients\/","title":{"rendered":"GRMC to permit outside food for patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DEDEDO, Guam\u2014<\/strong>Effective April 15, 2024, Guam Regional Medical City has permitted outside food, aiming to foster patient autonomy, embrace cultural and dietary diversity, enhance patient satisfaction, and minimize food waste.<\/p>\n<p>The following guidelines will reflect GRMC\u2019s new outside food policy:<\/p>\n<p><h4>ALIGNED WITH THE PATIENT\u2019S MEDICAL CARE<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>A. Consult the Attending Physician\/Dietitian\/Nurse about the patient\u2019s diet and restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>B. Make sure the patient is following their prescribed diet.<\/p>\n<p><h4>FOR SAFETY WITH FOOD<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>A. Wash hands before and after touching food.<\/p>\n<p>B. Check food for safe preparation and transport.<\/p>\n<p>C. Use insulator bags for transporting food to keep it at the correct temperature.<\/p>\n<p>D. Discard food left at room temperature for over two hours to prevent bacteria growth.<\/p>\n<p>E. Outside food and drinks should be ready to eat, no extra preparation required.<\/p>\n<p>F. Avoid raw, undercooked, or unpasteurized food to prevent food poisoning from bacteria like Salmonella or E. coli, etc.<\/p>\n<p><h4>FOR STORAGE AND DISPOSAL<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>A. Outside food will not be reheated or stored. Throw away any leftovers.<\/p>\n<p>B.
