{"id":409817,"date":"2024-06-10T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-10T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=409817"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Interact-Club-of-SSHS-installs-new-officers-welcomes-new-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Interact-Club-of-SSHS-installs-new-officers-welcomes-new-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Interact Club of SSHS installs new officers, welcomes new members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Interact Club of Saipan Southern High School installed new officers for the upcoming school year during its 7th Annual Recognition and Installation Program last Wednesday night at the Paradiso Resort &amp; Spa in Koblerville.<\/p>\n<p>The new Interact Club of SSHS officers for school year 2024-2025 are led by president and public relations officer Memama Asep, vice president and historian Domingka Kosy, secretary and community service director Stephanie Sexon, treasurer Monica Shilling, co-secretary\/co-treasurer Liam Mendoza, sergeant-at-arms Lamari Cabrera, and club service director Shawn Salas.<\/p>\n<p>In her acceptance speech, Asep promised to dedicate her time and effort toward the Interact Club of SSHS as well as continue to work harder and improve her leadership skills.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t be here today without the members&#8217; votes and support from the outgoing staff. I would also like to thank past members for making my time in the club more memorable. I am most honored to be the Saipan Southern High School Interact incoming president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asep took over from outgoing Interact Club of SSHS president Kayla Yi.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the swearing in of new officers, the Interact Club of SSHS also welcomed new members Yu Hui Cao, Princes Castro, Sachko Fred, Lorraine Iglecias, Tiffany Iglecias, Fatima Ito, Trisha Mae Joaquin, Jared Munahane, Deion Tupas, and Angel Nica Voces<\/p>\n<p>Interact Club of SSHS adviser Genelin Camacho said last Wednesday\u2019s induction ceremony marked the first time it was conducted in a semi-formal style. She also expressed her joy that there were more parents present this year, unlike in the past when only students and a few SSHS faculty were present. Aside from Camacho, Rosalyn Ajoste also serves as Interact Club of SSHS adviser.<\/p>\n<p>Class advisor and SSHS alumnus Donovan Tudela, who served as guest speaker, stressed how students can contribute to seven important causes\u2014promote peace, take part in health campaigns, support projects that provide clean water assistance, launch public drives or scholarship programs for those who are in need, encourage entrepreneurship and support small businesses, participate in projects that offer healthcare and nutrition for mothers and their children, and protect the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Rotary Club of Saipan president Irene Holl also shared her journey in Rotary and announced that Green Meadow School was certified as the fifth club member of Interact Club last May 28. She also commended Greg Borja for his hard work. Borja, in turn, asked Interact Club members to continue to prioritize service above self.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, special awards were also given to Asep and Stephanie Sexon for the Interactors of the Year Award, Jared Manahane for the Interact Spirit Award, Kayla Yi and Yu Hui Cao for Outstanding Leadership Award, and Yi for Distinguished Service Award.<\/p>\n<p>The program also had raffle drawing and dance number from a member of SSHS Micronesian Dance Club. Jyler Villar and Sachko Fred served as emcees.<\/p>\n<p>The Interact Club of SSHS is one of four Rotary youth clubs sponsored by the Rotary Club of Saipan, including clubs at Marianas High School, Kagman High School, and Saipan International School.
