{"id":409915,"date":"2024-06-17T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-17T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=409915"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Perez-introduces-bill-to-boost-affordable-housing-in-Guam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Perez-introduces-bill-to-boost-affordable-housing-in-Guam\/","title":{"rendered":"Perez introduces bill to boost  affordable housing in Guam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HAG\u00c5T\u00d1A, Guam\u2014<\/strong>Senator Sabina Perez introduced a new legislative proposal aimed at significantly enhancing affordable housing opportunities for the people of Guam by appropriating $1 million from to the Guam Housing Corp.\u2019s Housing Trust Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Bill 309-37 comes following a substantial increase of revenues and projected increase of $4 million in Section 30 over FY2024, that provides additional funding towards for families seeking homeownership or other assistance and mitigates longstanding issues with Guam\u2019s housing sector, including the rising costs of construction materials, skilled labor shortages and an increasingly competitive market that often overlooks the needs of low- to moderate-income families.<\/p>\n<p>With GHC revenues declining and the housing inventory becoming less affordable, many residents find themselves unable to purchase their first home.
