{"id":41011,"date":"2014-07-09T04:00:22","date_gmt":"2014-07-08T18:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=41011"},"modified":"2014-07-09T04:00:22","modified_gmt":"2014-07-08T18:00:22","slug":"dps-suspends-search-2-japanese-sisters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/dps-suspends-search-2-japanese-sisters\/","title":{"rendered":"DPS suspends search for 2 Japanese sisters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Public Safety suspended yesterday afternoon the search for the two missing Japanese sisters, with still no trace of them. <\/p>\n<p>DPS Boating Safety Section officers dived at Wing Beach until late afternoon yesterday, hoping to find sisters Natsuki Yamada, 33, and Chinatsu Yamada, 26. <\/p>\n<p>The Yamada sisters are believed to have gone night swimming at Wing Beach on June 29 up to the early morning of June 30. <\/p>\n<p>DPS spokesman Travis Hurst said a determination was made to suspend the search after an exhaustive effort that spanned days. Hurst said DPS has expended a great deal of resources in the search for the two.<\/p>\n<p>Hurst assured, though, that the investigation into the disappearance of the Yamada sisters is still ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDPS is going to be working diligently in finding the answers necessary to bring a resolution to this case,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Hurst said DPS would like to thank the CNMI Office of Homeland Security &#038; Emergency Management, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Commonwealth Ports Authority for their assistance in the search.<\/p>\n<p>The Yamada sisters arrived on Saipan last June 28. They were supposed to go back to Japan on June 30.
