At the hearing in Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho’s courtroom, Muna was provided a public defense attorney, Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig. Representing the government is assistant attorney general David Karch.

Muna’s arraignment hearing is set for July 8, 2024, at 9am, but until then she was released from DOC on her own recognizance.

According to court documents, on June 13, 2024 at 1:46pm, the Department of Public Safety Central dispatched units to a reported burglary and theft incident at Beach Garden located along Chichirica Avenue in Garapan.

According to the reports, police responded to a bystander who had alerted the officers that a male individual broke into one of the rooms. A maintenance worker also said that he saw a man jump over the fence from room B401 and ran into room B406.

Officers were notified that the man was still inside room B-406, occupied by a Joelen Muna. Officers obtained Muna’s cell phone number and repeatedly called it to verify whether Muna or any others were inside the room. Officers conducted a safety check and opened the room, finding a male individual inside one of the bathrooms. The man was brought out of the apartment, where he was identified as Steven Roman Tudela. The maintenance man positively identified Tudela to be the man who jumped over the fence. Tudela was then arrested and was advised of his Miranda Rights.

According to the report, on the way to DOC, Tudela admitted to the officers that he was the individual who entered the victim’s apartment and took a black MK brand bag and place it inside room B406, Muna’s room. Tudela added that on the night of June 12, 2024 he had met with Muna at Saipan Vegas. He said Muna told him that the owner of Beach Garden Estate Hotel and Apartment was off-island, and invited him to sleep over at her apartment so that he could hit the owner’s apartment next door.

Tudela stated that after he took a black MK bag from the victim’s room, Muna then took the black MK bag and placed it in a black and yellow plastic bin and exited the apartment because the police were coming.

Officers learned from the bystander who called that Muna was indeed holding a black plastic bin walking to her car and placed the plastic bin into her vehicle when she left the apartment.

An arrest warrant for Muna was issued on June 18, 2024.

The Beach Garden Estate Hotel and Apartments in Garapan was the site of a burglary last June 13.

-CHRYSTAL MARINO

A woman allegedly involved in the burglary at the Beach Garden Estate Hotel and Apartments…

[4

post-410429","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news
["GET
