{"id":411178,"date":"2024-07-04T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=411178"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Cruz-so-far-perfect-perfect-in-Intermediate-Class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Cruz-so-far-perfect-perfect-in-Intermediate-Class\/","title":{"rendered":"Cruz so far perfect-perfect in Intermediate Class"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aric Cruz has not only swept the first five monthly races in the Intermediate Class, but also did so in dominating fashion as he\u2019s collecting 50s as if it\u2019s going out of style.<\/p>\n<p>In the June 2024 \u201cMOTO IV\u201d Points Race Series last Sunday at the Cowtown Race Park in Marpi, the 17-year-old incoming senior at Saipan Southern High School again won both heats to take home the diadem. Last season\u2019s champion Vicente \u201cBeng\u201d Palacios was second with his 44 points, while Charles Cepeda was third with 20 points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a hot and dry race that caused a lot of crashing and flats. I would like to dedicate this race to my family and friends for their continued support throughout the ups and downs in my career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also made special mention of his uncle, Michael Mafnas, who recently passed away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spoke to him before he passed and he told me that I can accomplish my dreams and I can be successful in this kind of career. He also told me not to stop racing and to keep moving forward no matter what,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Asked what\u2019s his secret for racking up five consecutive 50 points so far, Cruz said, \u201cI guess it\u2019s just the days of practicing and perfecting my technique.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that he wants to keep his perfect streak as long as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be as focused as possible no matter what and I would like to finish the races with a perfect score, but the last race of the season I will move up to Expert Class to challenge Shane \u2018Pikaboo\u2019 Alvarez,\u201d said Cruz.<\/p>\n<p>He then thanked his parents for being \u201cmy day ones\u201d and also his sponsors\u2014Inas Kitchen, YCO True Value Hardware, Rep. Manny Castro (Ind-Saipan) for the tent, Ericco Racing Team, MarPac, Marianas Native, Choke Chain Athletics, TurnKey Solutions, Winners Hardware, Pacific Line Construction, and Joeten Motors Co.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very glad with my performance and I\u2019m happy I put Team Yamaha up front!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the Big Boy ATV Class of the Marianas Racing Association race, Christian Camacho also turned in a perfect 50 points.
