Saipan Mayor Ramon B. \u201cRB\u201d Camacho held a meeting yesterday afternoon with the business community of Precinct 4 at the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office conference room.<\/p>\n

Camacho proposed to the business community of Precinct 4 the creation and establishment of a non-profit organization that will involve various businesses. The organization that will be formed aims to support the community and its initiatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody\u2019s working and assisting me to lay out those non-profit chart forms for all the businesses from different precincts so we can create a non-profit group. Maybe we\u2019ll all chip in to build that foundation and maybe we decide and the businesses decide how to use this money and where to use this money.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the uniqueness of the program will bring together business owners and employees to work and communicate.<\/p>\n

The proposal was already presented to precincts 1, 2 and 3 businesses earlier this year and, according to Camacho, they will support it.<\/p>\n

In the meeting, Camacho discussed his vision of promoting a safe, clean, and green community on Saipan. He also discussed the importance of businesses and the need to balance their interests with the wellbeing of the community.<\/p>\n

He also mentioned the success of his Adopt-A-Place project wherein he announced that HanNam Supermarket will adopt the Koblerville Basketball Court. Adopting the Koblerville Basketball Court aims to provide a safe and constructive space for children in the community.<\/p>\n

Camacho also discussed his goal of uniting the island\u2019s community through fostering collaboration among various groups. The mayor believes that by promoting unity, crime and drug abuse will decrease as residents look out for one another. This also includes his promotion of the Neighborhood Watch campaign.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, product labeling in stores was one of the problems mentioned by Lito Dizon of Saipan Ice & Water Co. He said that there are stores selling products with non-English labels and that it\u2019s actually illegal and the same is true for food products with no expiration dates.<\/p>\n

Other concerns raised during the meeting include rude customers, unwanted customer behavior in the store, and homeless loitering outside the store that drives away customers.<\/p>\n

The mayor said that his office will be a liaison to the business community and the feedback they receive will be discussed with the responsible government agencies.<\/p>\n

Aside from Dizon, Cecilia Gapach of San Roque Market, Lee Wen Hee of Capitol Hill Market, Elizabeth Ganang of New I Mart, Xu Xung Yi of Zhen Yu Capitol Market, and Xu Bin of Welcome Market were also in attendance.<\/p>\n
