{"id":412377,"date":"2024-08-16T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-16T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=412377"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Yamagashi-yanks-August-ace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Yamagashi-yanks-August-ace\/","title":{"rendered":"Yamagashi yanks August ace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dolores Yamagishi registered her first win of the CNMI Women\u2019s Golf Association season during the August CWGA Tournament held last Aug. 10 at the Coral Ocean Resort in Agingan.<\/p>\n<p>The 2023 CNMI Women\u2019s Golf Association Two-day Tournament champion shot a net score of 71 to fend off other challengers for the monthly plum.<\/p>\n<p>Yamagishi shot a 46 in the front nine and a 47 in back for a gross of 93, which minus her 22 handicap, gave her the winning net score of the August tilt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe course was okay but the weather was hot and humid,\u201d she said about the round last Saturday. Her easiest hole was hole No. 3, \u201cbecause it\u2019s a short par 3.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While her most difficult hole was hole No. 5, \u201cbecause there were bunkers and water [hazards].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 69-year-old then dedicated her August win to all \u201cCWGA ladies that played that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her three-word answer to how she felt after winning the monthly tourney was, \u201cIt felt good!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yamagishi, a 20-year veteran in playing golf, said she got her start in the sport after she began playing with friends.<\/p>\n<p>Runner-up in the August tourney was Sunny Hyun with her net 73 built around a 46 in the first nine holes and a superb 39 in the last nine for a gross of 85. Third place went to Janet Torres with an identical 73 but lost via scorecard tiebreak. She had a line of 42-49 and 91.<\/p>\n<p>Lorraine Babauta came in fourth with a net of 74, while Saehee Kim and Eue Ae Chang finished fifth and sixth with post-handicap scores of 75 apiece.<\/p>\n<p>The club continues to look for new members as the new season continues.
