We believe there is substantial market potential in this area.”

Pan said currently Halo Houseware sells office desks and chairs, lounge chairs, beds, wardrobes, lamps, kitchenware, artificial plants, storage racks, speaker, cups, outdoor gear, camping tents, folding beach chair, decorative items, and small gifts. They import their products from China, but will soon source their products from other markets.

Asked why their owners opened a business in the CNMI during trying economic times, Pan said they’re confident in Halo Houseware’s business model and its ability to succeed despite the uncertainty of the island’s future.

“In times of economic uncertainty, our goal is to get more local residents to buy their favorite products at lower prices. We don’t want them to be hesitant to buy their favorite items because they are expensive. For us, lower profit margins are acceptable while keeping our operations on track—small profits but quick returns. It’s all worth it as long as our customers are satisfied and happy!”

In fact, he said Halo Houseware offering their items at lower market prices has sort of become their signature since opening in July.

“What makes us different from other houseware stores is our items are cheaper, but the quality is the same. Our aim is to keep the price low with the same quality so that more people can go for this product.”

As for the store’s name, Pan said Halo Houseware just had a nice ring to it and very appropriate since they want to provide a “light” to Saipan’s needs.

Halo Houseware, located beside Megabyte Saipan along Middle Road in Gualo Rai, is open from Monday to Saturday, 9:30am-7pm, and Sunday, 1pm-7pm.
