Camacho is gradually working to re-launch his pet Neighborhood Watch Program and is calling upon community members to become an active part of this initiative when it launches.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you see something, say something,\u201d said Camacho.<\/p>\n<p>Camacho first launched the program when he was still chairman of the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council.<\/p>\n<p>The principal goal of the program is to implement a year-round community-based \u201cNeighborhood Watch\u201d effort by all to preserve the safety and security of all\u2014children (<em>famagu\u2019on<\/em>), youth (<em>manhoben<\/em>), adults and elderly (<em>man\u2019amko<\/em>), families, households, businesses, non-profit organizations, and public facilities\u2014in villages throughout Saipan.<\/p>\n<p><em>Saipan Tribune<\/em> reported last Sept. 3 two separate theft incidents that involved heavy equipment truck batteries and truck tires at the WIC Administrative Office in Upper Navy Hill and CTSI storage facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Last Aug. 28, <em>Saipan Tribune<\/em> reported a spike in gas theft incidents wherein the Department of Public Safety issued a public warning across Saipan as thieves were primarily targeting 15-seater passenger vans. DPS also confirmed that within the week of Aug. 18-24, they received eight complaints involving the theft of fuel from multiple vehicles, raising concerns among the local community and businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Camacho added that any information or tips regarding these crimes will ultimately help law enforcement in protecting the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur island is a diverse community and I\u2019m calling upon all of our ethnic groups to stand and work together to combat this unacceptable behavior,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>You may contact the CNMI Crime Stoppers hotline at (670) 234-7272 or leave an online tip on its website at nmicrimestoppers.net.
