{"id":414745,"date":"2024-10-09T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-09T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=414745"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"MVA-LJ-s-Lawncare-clean-up-Kalabera-Cave","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/MVA-LJ-s-Lawncare-clean-up-Kalabera-Cave\/","title":{"rendered":"MVA, LJ\u2019s Lawncare clean up Kalabera Cave"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Historic tourism site Kalabera Cave recently got a facelift from the Marianas Visitors Authority and LJ\u2019s Lawncare Service.<\/p>\n<p>The organizations teamed up to pressure wash the walkways and parking lot of the Marpi site, known for its significance as a burial cave for ancient indigenous Chamorros and for the skull-like appearance of its entrance. \u201cKalabera\u201d translates as \u201cskull\u201d in Chamorro and is derived from the Spanish word \u201ccalavera.\u201d Kalabera Cave is also one of the few sites in The Marianas where Chamorro pictographs have been found.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKalabera Cave is a historic site that has attracted more visitors in recent years with the renovations that have taken place.
