The Rotary Club of Saipan is hosting the Zumba Dance-A-Thon Fundraiser this coming Friday Oct. 18, 2024 at the Garapan Central Park\u2019s Roundhouse from 5pm to 8pm.<\/p>\n

The fundraiser is part of a global effort to observe World Polio Day on Oct. 24 which aims to end the disease that continues to affect children worldwide.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the Dance-A-Thon are priced at $5 and event-goers will also be able to purchase commemorative T-shirts for $10, along with raffle tickets for prizes. The fundraiser is open to the community, with proceeds supporting Rotary\u2019s efforts to raise awareness and provide vaccination programs in vulnerable areas. Local Zumba instructors and coaches will lead the event, contributing to an evening of fitness, fun, and philanthropy.<\/p>\n

In addition, a proclamation signing to mark World Polio Day will be held during the Rotary Club of Saipan\u2019s general membership meeting on Oct. 22, 2024, at the Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan. The proclamation will highlight the importance of ongoing global and local efforts to eradicate polio.<\/p>\n

Since 1985, Rotary International has contributed over $2.7 billion toward the fight against polio. Rotary\u2019s involvement, along with partnerships with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has helped reduce polio cases by more than 99.9%. On Saipan, the local Rotary Club has raised a total of $106,734 in donations as part of these efforts.<\/p>\n

Polio continues to pose a threat in some parts of the world, despite significant progress. Rotary remains committed to ensuring every child is vaccinated and aims to raise an additional $50 million each year to support the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.<\/p>\n
