The U.S District Court will vacate attorney Ramon K. Quichoco\u2019s show-cause order as he has given consent to release the bail amount of $1,200 to satisfy Ming Yang Corp.\u2019s legal fees.<\/p>\n
On Monday, U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona said the show-cause order would be vacated if Quichoco agrees to release the amount of $1,200 cash bail to Ming Yang Corp. within 24 hours of posting bail.<\/p>\n
Quichoco gave the notice of consent that same day. If he had not, the matter would be set for a show-cause hearing.<\/p>\n
Manglona issued a bench warrant against Quichocho on July 7 for failing to appear at a show cause hearing that same day. She imposed a $1,200 cash bail.<\/p>\n
The judge said she would address the issue of finding Quichoco in civil contempt once he is present before the court.<\/p>\n
In his motion to quash the bench warrant, the attorney said he tendered $1,200 bail money to the clerk of court\u2019s office on Thursday. Also, he informed the court that he is off-island for medical reasons and that he would not be available to attend the hearing in person but only via teleconference.<\/p>\n
Mark Scoggins, counsel for Ming Yang Corp., indicated that they would not oppose vacating the show-cause order if the bail is released his client to cover their legal fees. Manglona agreed with Scoggins. <\/p>\n
Only June 16, the judge issued the $1,200 sanction order against Quichoco for the late submission of his opposition to Ming Yang\u2019s motion to dismiss a lawsuit. Part of the sanctions required paying Ming Yang\u2019s legal fees in preparing for a motion.<\/p>\n
The fees were to be paid no later than June 25. But on June 24, Quichoco filed a motion to reconsider Manglona\u2019s order. The judge denied the motion and extended the payment deadline to June 27.<\/p>\n
On June 27, Scoggins filed a petition for an order to show cause as Quichoco failed to pay the fees. Manglona granted the petition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
