Camacho held a meeting with members of the local Palauan community. Amongst the items discussed were how the Palauan community could work together with Camacho under the various community programs and projects of the Saipan Mayor’s Office.

One of the most important among these projects is the Adopt-A-Place Program which Camacho highly encouraged the Palauan community to be a part of. He encouraged them to start looking for areas around the island that need looking after and to see if they would be able to take those areas under their care.

Another community program mentioned was the upcoming Neighborhood Watch. With a recent spike in criminal activities, the mayor is pushing towards the revitalization of the Neighborhood Watch as a way for the community to come together as one and combat this unacceptable behavior.

In addition to these programs, they discussed the “Naftan Project” or the planned revitalization of the Naftan area. The Palauan community over the past couple of years had been meeting with the other government regulatory agencies regarding this matter and worked with them to get the project started. Camacho also looked into how the Saipan Mayor’s Office could assist in the beautification efforts of this area.

The meeting was very productive and Camacho is very much looking forward to working with his Palauan brothers and sisters in the near future.

Camacho would also like to call upon other leaders and members of our island’s diverse ethnic groups to meet and join him and his office in these programs for betterment of our community.

For any questions or more information, contact the Saipan Mayor’s Office at (670) 234-6208 or our hotline at (670) 234-DUTY. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm.
