Agapito \u201cPete\u201d A. Diaz is the new vice chairperson, and Mike W. Naholowaa continues in his role as the board\u2019s treasurer. This marks a pivotal moment as the board builds on recent successes to advance UOG\u2019s mission of empowering the region through education, innovation, and community engagement.<\/p>\n<p>Leon Guerrero is senior vice president and chief experience officer at the Bank of Guam and has served on the BOR since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have seen the great work that has gone into modernizing UOG from the inside out,\u201d said Leon Guerrero. \u201cThere is no shortage of talent here, and I look forward to advocating for greater support for the University because every dollar invested back into our programs and facilities works to strengthen and uplift our island community and our region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leon Guerrero previously served as vice chairperson and now succeeds outgoing chairperson Sandra H. McKeever whose term as regent ends on Jan. 31, 2025. McKeever\u2019s leadership helped guide the University through legislative budget shortfalls, the transition from outgoing president Thomas Krise to current president Anita Borja Enriquez in 2023, and through the year-long development of UOG\u2019s five-year strategic plan, Tulos Mo\u2019na: Propelling Forward Together.<\/p>\n<p>McKeever is the president and CEO of Asia Pacific Financial Management Group and an alumna of UOG.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy time as a student at the University of Guam was a transformative chapter in my life. It shaped my values, character, and purpose, and taught me the power of education and critical thinking. I\u2019m deeply grateful to my professors whose dedication inspired me to carry that same passion into my career, helping others build a solid financial foundation. I thank God, the UOG Community, President Enriquez, and the Board of Regents for the opportunity to serve and give back to the institution that has given me so much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Enriquez expressed her congratulations to the newly elected officers and recognized McKeever for her leadership during her time on the board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to working with our new officers and the entire Board of Regents as we continue fulfilling our commitment to advancing the University,\u201d said Enriquez. \u201cAnd on behalf of the university community, we thank Cchairperson McKeever for her dedicated service, which has continued building a strong foundation for UOG\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The next quarterly Board of Regents meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the RFK Library Silent Room on the university\u2019s campus.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Board of Regents also include:<\/p>\n<p>Roland S. Certeza, regent<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Janice P. Malilay, regent<\/p>\n<p>Joanna T. Chun, regent<\/p>\n<p>Christopher \u201cChris\u201d L.C. Duenas, regent<\/p>\n<p>Julie A.L. Laxamana, student regent<\/p>\n<p>President Enriquez serves as the executive secretary of the board.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Guam Board of Regents is the governing body of the University, established in 1963 through Public Law 7-66. Expanded to nine members in 1984, the BOR oversees UOG\u2019s operations, appoints the president, manages university funds, and sets policies on employment and compensation.
