Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage<\/em><\/a> may have celebrated Thanksgiving a little early, but don\u2019t expect the Young Sheldon<\/em><\/a> spinoff to ring in the Christmas holiday anytime soon.<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s holiday festivities will be limited to Thanksgiving this time around as executive producer Steve Holland<\/a> offers an explanation behind the decision. \u201cWe\u2019re not doing a Christmas episode this year,\u201d Holland tells TV Insider. \u201cWe\u2019ve done the Thanksgiving episode, which was great and it felt like going into Christmas\u2026 sometimes it\u2019s hard to do those episodes and not have the whole family come in.\u201d<\/p>\n

As fans will recall from the Thanksgiving episode, the McAllisters hosted Georgie\u2019s family, including his sister Missy (Raegan Revord<\/a>), mom Mary (Zoe Perry<\/a>), Meemaw (Annie Potts<\/a>), and Dale (Craig T. Nelson<\/a>). While the event didn\u2019t quite go to plan, it was a step in a positive direction as the Coopers and McAllisters came together and Georgie helped his mom move forward following dad George Sr.\u2019s (Lance Barber<\/a>) death.<\/p>\n

The difficulty, Holland notes, is \u201cIf you\u2019re gonna do Christmas, and it\u2019s Cece\u2019s [first] Christmas, how do you not have Mary and Meemaw as a part of it? And we had just had them in for Thanksgiving and it felt like it might be treading similar ground thematically. So we chose Thanksgiving because it was sort of the first big holiday without George Sr.\u201d<\/p>\n

While fans may not be getting a Christmas episode, they do have plenty to look forward to following Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage<\/em> receiving a full-season order<\/a> at CBS. Following November 14\u2019s Thanksgiving installment, the season will resume its run with the episode, \u201cA Regular Samaritan,\u201d airing on December 5.<\/p>\n

And looking ahead to the future, Holland teases, \u201cWe\u2019re gonna get into Georgie and Mandy\u2019s relationship even more. We\u2019re gonna start to explore [and] learn a little bit more about Audrey [Rachel Bay Jones<\/a>] and Jim [Will Sasso<\/a>].\u201d<\/p>\n
