(NASA\/ESA\/CSA\/STScI via SWNS)<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Dean Murray via <a href=\"http:\/\/swns.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SWNS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Space scientists have captured a startling new image of the so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/hubble\/science\/explore-the-night-sky\/hubble-messier-catalog\/messier-104\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sombrero galaxy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>NASA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/webb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James Webb Space Telescope<\/a> snapped a mid-infrared view of Messier 104 (M104), also named for its resemblance to a broad-brimmed Mexican hat.<\/p>\n<p>In the image, the signature, glowing core of the <a href=\"https:\/\/talker.news\/2024\/05\/31\/james-webb-space-telescope-finds-most-distant-known-galaxy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">galaxy<\/a> seen in visible-light images does not shine, and instead a smooth inner disk is revealed.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>This 2010 image by the NASA\/ESA Hubble Space Telescope shows the large and extended glow of the central bulge of stars.
