In response to Saipan\u2019s growing need for affordable pet care, the Saipan Humane Society has announced an upcoming low-cost spay and neuter clinic this coming week.<\/p>\n

According to a press release issued by SHS, the initiative was made possible through a partnership with the Parker Project, and will bring much-needed services to the island\u2019s pet community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to announce this clinic in response to overwhelming community demand. Our goal is to ensure that everyone in the community has access to affordable spay and neuter services, contributing to a healthier and more compassionate Saipan for all,\u201d read the press release.<\/p>\n

SHS shared that the Parker Project, a nonprofit organization primarily focused on serving the Navajo Nation, will be sending a team of nine, including veterinarian Dr. Karter Neal, to conduct the clinic on Nov. 9, 11, 12, 13, and 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe team is excited to branch out to help animals in need in the CNMI,\u201d SHS stated, expressing their gratitude for the Parker Project\u2019s willingness to extend their expertise to Saipan.<\/p>\n

The clinic will be held at the Kagman Community Center and surgeries for both male and female dogs and cats will be available for a fee of $40. SHS shared that recognizing that the cost might still pose a challenge for some residents, SHS encourages those in need to reach out.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the $40 cost poses a financial challenge, we encourage community members to reach out,\u201d said SHS in their statement. \u201cLimited sponsorships are available to ensure that every pet has access to this vital service.\u201d<\/p>\n

This clinic will also offer an important opportunity for \u201cloosely owned\u201d or community pets\u2014those animals cared for by several households but without a single owner. SHS continues to share the significance of these efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpaying or neutering these animals is essential to reduce the number of homeless or abandoned animals and prevent the cycle of unwanted litters.\u201d<\/p>\n

For residents interested in helping these community pets, SHS is available to guide them through the process.<\/p>\n
