{"id":426312,"date":"2024-11-27T09:02:43","date_gmt":"2024-11-27T09:02:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=426312"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Man-Utd-revenue-falls-as-Champions-League-absence-bites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Man-Utd-revenue-falls-as-Champions-League-absence-bites\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Utd revenue falls as Champions League absence bites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Manchester United suffered a \u00a314 million ($17.6 million) drop in total revenue to \u00a3143.1 million, taking a hit from their absence from the lucrative Champions League, first-quarter results showed Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>But the club announced a net profit of \u00a31.4 million in the period from July to September, compared with a \u00a325.8 million loss during the same period last year, which they attributed to favourable foreign exchange rates.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Devils finished eighth in the Premier League under former manager Erik ten Hag last season &#8212; their lowest-ever placing &#8212; to miss out on Europe&#8217;s top club competition.<\/p>\n<p>That resulted in a 20.4 percent drop in broadcasting revenue in the quarter ending September 30 to \u00a331.3 million.<\/p>\n<p>United&#8217;s FA Cup win last season means they are competing in this season&#8217;s Europa League instead.<\/p>\n<p>Commercial revenue fell 5.6 percent to \u00a385.3 million, with matchday revenue decreasing by 3.3 percent to \u00a326.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>The club recorded &#8220;exceptional&#8221; costs of \u00a38.6 million.
