{"id":43308,"date":"2014-07-25T04:00:45","date_gmt":"2014-07-24T18:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=43308"},"modified":"2014-07-25T04:00:45","modified_gmt":"2014-07-24T18:00:45","slug":"uss-halsey-makes-guam-port-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/uss-halsey-makes-guam-port-call\/","title":{"rendered":"USS Halsey makes Guam port call"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>INARAJAN, Guam<\/strong>\u2014Sailors from the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG 97) volunteered at Inarajan Elementary School in Inarajan, Guam, on July 18.<\/p>\n<p>Halsey made a port call to the island after departing their homeport in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for a deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet\u2019s area of responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhenever the sailors come, they\u2019re somewhat of a treat to the students,\u201d said summer school coordinator Jackysha Green. \u201cThey provide [students] insight as to their occupation and what they do to serve as military members and they\u2019re always gracious to help the kids in any manner.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_43289\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43289\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/USS-Halsey.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-43289\" alt=\"Sailors from the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Halsey interact with students during a community relations event at Inarajan Elementary School in Inarajan, Guam on July 18.
