Camacho yesterday released on bail Servando C. Regis, a former police officer who allegedly stole $3,500 cash by deceiving a customer of a car shop.<\/p>\n<p>Camacho allowed the 37-year-old Regis to post $300 or 10 percent of $3,000 cash bail, plus $2,700 unsecured bond.<\/p>\n<p>The judge found the defendant&#8217;s proposed third party custodian suitable.<\/p>\n<p>Regis will be arraigned on March 12 at 9am.<\/p>\n<p>In the government&#8217;s opposition to bail modification, assistant attorney general James B. McAllister said based on defendant&#8217;s theft in this case and statements from his former employer, Regis seems to have developed a habit of \u201cripping off\u201d unsuspecting victims.<\/p>\n<p>Police arrested Regis on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Alexander Sakisat stated in his report that the victim, Emilio Santos, reported that he made several payments to Regis totaling $3,500 for the repair of his car.<\/p>\n<p>Police learned that Regis used to work as a runner for TBK Auto Shop, but was no longer employed there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ferdie de la Torre Reporter Superior Court associate judge Joseph N.
