Federal agents arrested yesterday a man who was allegedly engaged in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d on Saipan last year.<\/p>\n
Zhaosheng Zeng was arrested after a sealed indictment was filed in federal court on July 22. The indictment was unsealed yesterday afternoon following Zeng\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n
The indictment charged Zeng with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and three counts of distribution of methamphetamine.<\/p>\n
According to the indictment, from May 9, 2013, through June 19, 2013, Zeng intentionally conspired with persons to distribute \u201cice.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zeng also allegedly intentionally distributed \u201cice\u201d on May 9, 16, and 19, 2013.<\/p>\n
At a hearing yesterday afternoon, Zeng, who appeared with court-appointed counsel David Banes, pleaded not guilty of all charges.<\/p>\n
U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona set the jury trial for Oct. 6, 2014. <\/p>\n
A detention hearing will be conducted on Friday at 9am.<\/p>\n
