Bordallo (D-GU) announced yesterday that the Department of Homeland Security has awarded $1,313,830 in federal grant assistance to the Government of Guam.<\/p>\n<p>DHS awarded $854,000 to Guam Homeland Security for the State Homeland Security Program. This grant will be used to support GHS implement strategies to address identified planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other catastrophic events.<\/p>\n<p>DHS also awarded $468,830 to the Port Authority of Guam for the Port Security Grant Program. This grant will assist the port support its transportation infrastructure security activities to implement Area Maritime Transportation Security Plans and facility security plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese funds will support our government agencies implement plans and contingencies to prevent and respond to acts of terrorism or other natural disasters that may affect Guam,\u201d said Bordallo. \u201cThese grants are part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security\u2019s ongoing efforts to ensure that our communities are safe and ready to respond in times of crisis.
