Twenty students from the CNMI made the best of what\u2019s left of summer vacation by participating in the 14th Yeosu International Youth Festival in South Korea.<\/p>\n

The group that participated in the six-day event was composed of students from Northern Marianas College and Saipan Southern High School.<\/p>\n

The youth festival hosted 400 youth from around the world who took part in activities such as a mini-Olympics, city tours, water battles, and Korean pop concerts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Students were housed at the Chonnam National University dorms.<\/p>\n

One participant, Mike Alcantara, told Saipan Tribune that the festival \u201cwas a great experience.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cPeople from the islands were able to make lots of friends from different countries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The international youth festival this year welcomed youth from parts of France, China, Malaysia, Nepal, the United States, Japan, Korea, the CNMI, and Russia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all gathered to learn about the city of Yeosu and got to enjoy each other\u2019s company,\u201d Alcantara said.<\/p>\n

Students from the islands and members of the band \u201cFlow\u201d also got the opportunity to perform a song and dunce number on stage in front of an international audience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
