{"id":44418,"date":"2014-08-06T04:00:23","date_gmt":"2014-08-05T18:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=44418"},"modified":"2014-08-06T04:00:23","modified_gmt":"2014-08-05T18:00:23","slug":"93-candidates-eve-todays-filing-deadline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/93-candidates-eve-todays-filing-deadline\/","title":{"rendered":"93 candidates on the eve of today\u2019s filing deadline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At least 93 individuals have already filed their candidacies as of yesterday, a day before today\u2019s deadline to submit nominating petitions for the Nov. 4 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Robert Guerrero said that individuals seeking public office still have until 6pm tonight to file their nominating petitions.<\/p>\n<p>The commission is extending its office hours today to accommodate last-minute filers.<\/p>\n<p>Among those who filed their candidacies yesterday afternoon is attorney Steve Woodruff, who is seeking a Saipan senatorial seat.<\/p>\n<p>The Election Commission is also reminding CNMI residents that are U.S. citizens and who would like to register to vote for the Nov. 4 general elections that the last day to register is Sept. 5.<\/p>\n<p>To register, visit the Commonwealth Election Commission office in Susupe, which is open from Monday to Friday, except holidays, from 8am to 4pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. <\/p>\n<p>On the last day of registration on Friday, Sept. 5, the Commission office will be open until 6pm.
