{"id":44734,"date":"1998-12-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1998-12-09T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/93c9773f-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"1998-12-09T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"1998-12-09T00:00:00","slug":"93c97750-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/93c97750-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Adult education to address\nlearning disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Adult Basic Education program at the Northern Marianas College will upgrade its courses to address the needs of students with learning disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Its administrators and teachers will be trained to identify enrollees with learning disabilities by bringing out techniques to enhance their skills.<\/p>\n<p>Learning disabilities will include persons with visual or audio impairment and other form of physical handicapped.<\/p>\n<p>According to ABE Director Fe Calixterio, a training workshop on learning disabilities is set in Hawaii this February and local representatives are scheduled to attend it.<\/p>\n<p>The ABE program has been criticized for its inability to assist students with special needs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think they were right because we haven&#8217;t had any training. We don&#8217;t even test the students (to tell their difficulties).
