A Filipino cook working at Kan Pacific Inc. or Marianas Resort died yesterday morning when the car he was driving fell into a ditch after veering off the road and hitting a flame tree near Rudolpho’s in Sadog Tasi.<\/p>\n
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin, according to Rose Ada, public information officer.<\/p>\n
The Department of Public Safety received the call at 10:59 a.m. from a passerby who saw the victim’s body trapped inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Preliminary reports said the car, described as a 1992 4-door Toyota Tercel, was heading south when it veered off the roadway near the 1,000 curve, struck a flame tree, fell into a ditch and landed on its top.<\/p>\n
Officers from the Boating Safety Section rushed the man to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 p.m.<\/p>\n
Ada said the victim sustained severe injuries including an open skull, broken arms and legs and possible abdominal bleeding.<\/p>\n
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of his death.<\/p>\n
DPS is currently investigating the case. The incident is the eighth traffic fatality for this year.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, police are looking for a Chinese national, believed to be the last registered owner of the vehicle that struck 56-year-old Francisco Manalo Cabrera while jogging along San Roque early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
The man was identified as Guan Gzhe Piao and is wanted by the police for questioning.<\/p>\n
His name appeared to be the owner of the Hyundai Elantra bearing license plate ACH 402.<\/p>\n
DPS is asking the public to report Piao’s whereabouts at 664-9001. All calls will be kept confidential.<\/p>\n
Cabrera, an employee of the Department of Public Works was jogging at the time he was hit by the vehicle. The operator immediately fled the scene.<\/p>\n
He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead at 6:26 a.m.<\/p>\n
According to the report, Cabrera suffered massive skull fracture, bruises and contusion on his stomach area and scrapes in both his arms and knees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
