The launching of an apprenticeship program on film and TV production is being considered by officials of the Northern Marianas College.<\/p>\n
In a presentation made before the Board of Regents, Dr. Jack Angello informed officials about plans to start this apprenticeship program through the vocational education department of NMC.<\/p>\n
It will be a joint undertaking between the college and the Pacific Rim Productions, which traces roots from Hollywood.<\/p>\n
The arrangement recently discussed by both parties will require NMC to provide space for its laboratories and classrooms, while the production outfit will bring in the equipment and expertise.<\/p>\n
According to Angello, this future program will not require huge funding from NMC since space is available and tuition fees will cover the salary of teachers.<\/p>\n
To secure approval from the funding authorities, the board agreed to present this program to the legislature this week.<\/p>\n
An earlier letter from Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio supported the concept to create a movie\/TV production and educational facility on Saipan following his meeting with Angello and people from PRP.<\/p>\n
Employment prospects of its students are directed to the various requirements on video and audio production. As an apprenticeship program, it will have a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience using state of the art digital video and sound equipment.<\/p>\n
Since modern technology offers the opportunity to work remotely on post productions, the Pacific is one place to do it. Guam is already making headway towards setting up a movie production.<\/p>\n
