A 36-year-old man was sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to illegal possession of over two pounds of marijuana.<\/p>\n
Teddy I. Lequigan entered a plea agreement with the government in exchange for a lesser jail sentence.<\/p>\n
He was originally charged with illegal possession of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as ice, importation of a contraband and illegal possession of marijuana.<\/p>\n
Court records said he illegally possessed the controlled substance and caused another to import ice into the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n
If convicted, Lequigan faces maximum jail term of five years and $2,000 fine for each charge.<\/p>\n
By changing his plea, the government dismissed the two other charges.<\/p>\n
Presiding Judge Edward Manibusan sentenced him to 30 days in jail and will not be eligible for parole.<\/p>\n
He was also placed on probation for a year and was ordered to pay a fine of $400.<\/p>\n
Lequigan also waived his right to appeal the decision and was ordered to perform 150 hours of community work. He will also pay restitution of $100 to the DARE program.<\/p>\n
