{"id":45243,"date":"1999-01-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1999-01-21T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/942a9189-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"1999-01-21T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"1999-01-21T00:00:00","slug":"942a919d-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/942a919d-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"$38,000 bail in rape, kidnapping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A $38,000 cash bail has been set for the temporary release of 28-year-old Taitano Teruo Achipan who was arrested on charges of rape, kidnapping and assault and battery.<\/p>\n<p>Achipan was arrested Tuesday at Express garment in Puerto Rico where he works.<\/p>\n<p>Police spokesperson Rose Ada said he did not resist arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Achipan is the main suspect in the rape and kidnapping of a 28-year-old Chuukese female from Kagman last Jan. 9.<\/p>\n<p>Ada said information provided by the victim and investigation conducted by the police led to an issuance of an arrest warrant.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities also impounded his vehicle, a 4-door sedan, which was allegedly used by Achipan to commit the crime.<\/p>\n<p>Police received the call from the victim at 10:29 p.m. last Jan. 9 about the raping incident which took place in Banzai Cliff.<\/p>\n<p>The victim related that Achipan offered her a ride from her place of work but instead of taking her home, he brought her to Marpi where the alleged rape took place.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was brought to CHC where she was treated and examined. The result of the examination was not available as of yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>In yesterday&#8217;s bail hearing, Judge Juan T. Lizama ordered that he post $38,000 cash bail.
