Northern Marianas College President Agnes McPhetres will deliver today the first State of the College Address since it was founded in 1981.<\/p>\n
The 16 years recap and presentation of NMC’s Strategic Plan for the next millennium will be compressed into a 45-minute address by McPhetres.<\/p>\n
Describing the review as “touching the tip of the iceberg,” the President said it will essentially cover what NMC has done over the last 16 years. Inputs from graduates will be included together with a presentation of its various programs.<\/p>\n
She will also run a summary of its financial affairs with the tax payers, while the master plan will point the direction where NMC is heading to for the next years.<\/p>\n
An open forum will follow after her talk.<\/p>\n
According to Board of Regents Vice-Chairman Ramon Villagomez, it is difficult to present in a nutshell what transpired since 1981. The first draft reportedly lasted about two hours and had to be revised.<\/p>\n
“This is the first time to tell the people and so we need to give some background. It will be different next year,” he said.<\/p>\n
Although, the law which established the institution requires an annual public report, this is the first time NMC will comply.<\/p>\n
McPhetres did not offer an explanation of the remiss. She’s one of the first officials who had been working with the college since in the early 80’s.<\/p>\n
Today’s State of the College Address at the Multi-purpose Center in Susupe will follow the program format observed by the Legislature during the annual State of the Commonwealth address. It will start at 10 in the morning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
