The “King of Beers” is synonymous with fun and entertainment for its consumers worldwide.

“Budweiser is honored to have had it’s ‘Quality’ radio campaign recognized at the first-ever Guam Marketing Association Awards,” said Lee Babb, Pacific Region sales manager, Anheuser-Busch International, Inc. “The award is reflective of the company’s global marketing and advertising efforts, and was possible as a result of great teamwork between David & Usita DDB and Budweiser.”

The campaign, which reinforces Budweiser’s commitment to distributing the world’s best-tasting, premium-quality beer, beat out six other nominees.

Amongst the winners of the 19 various advertising and marketing award categories, the Retail class was one of the most coveted awards handed out by the Guam Marketing Association. The “Quality” radio campaign involved four separate spots. “Gus-Guam Warehouse,” a 60-second spot written by David & Usita and produced by DDB Chicago, was the focal point of the “Quality” program.

Three additional 30-second spots written and produced by David & Usita locally supplemented the “Gus-Guam Warehouse” commercial. “Born on Radio – Star Trek,” “Fresh Beer Radio – Speed” and “Warehouse Radio – Horror” are humorous spots with a message on the quality of Budweiser. All four ads hit the airwaves in early 1998 and are still running in Guam.

“Working with DDB and Budweiser has been the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Eduardo David, president, David & Usita DDB. “it is such a privilege to have a cutting edge client, such as Budweiser, who allows us to maximize our creative abilities.”

The “Quality” radio campaign was also considered by DDB’s worldwide partners as one of the best DDB creatives in 1998.
