Applicants will be notified on or about December 3, 1999.<\/p>\n<p>The program, funded by Lila Wallace-Reader&#8217;s Digest, is designed to enhance ways in which history is communicated to the American people.<\/p>\n<p>Fellowships will be provided to people whose research objective are to produce works dealing with the pre-twentieth American history designed for the general public rather than for the academic and educational communities. The fellowships will allow recipients to conduct uninterrupted research, reading and collegial discussion at<br \/>\nAAS , which houses the world&#8217;s preeminent and most accessible collection of American printed materials before the 20th century.<\/p>\n<p>At least three fellowships will be awarded for residence of four weeks at the Society for any time between January 1 and December 31, 2000.
