The event is slated on Saturday, March 10, from 10am to 3pm, at the American Memorial Park baseball field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKite sales are steady, but we are expecting sales to really pick up during the festival,\u201d said school principal Richard Sikkel.<\/p>\n<p>He expects to sell all the 100 kites they ordered for the family-oriented festival focusing on kites and cuisines from around the world. The kites sell for $8 to $20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe selected the kites this year for their easy flying and I can speak from personal experience-I went out and tested them this week with my kids-that they are really easy to fly,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Based on last year&#8217;s \u201cgood turnout,\u201d Sikkel said he is looking forward to seeing more kites in the air and part of exciting competitions. \u201cIt will be a sight to behold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Sikkel, their annual kite competitions such as the highest flying kite, the smallest and largest kites are \u201calways exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bar was set pretty high last year with one of the highest flying kites ending up on top of the Hyatt roof, the largest kite being a 20-foot-long octopus and the smallest kite measuring a mere square inch,\u201d said Sikkel. \u201cEternal bragging rights and a trophy await the winners in each category.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Should kite fliers get hungry or thirsty, Sikkel said Caf\u00e9 at the Park, Shirley&#8217;s Coffee Shop, and Shenanigans will be selling food at the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have opted for one-stop meals that allow the fliers to eat on the fly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the event will go to Brilliant Star School&#8217;s Tuition Assistance Program, which allows the school \u201cto provide deserving students an opportunity for high quality education which might otherwise be unobtainable for them and to provide the school a well-qualified student body: a diverse and inclusive community reflecting a broad social and economic mix.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sikkel said non-fliers can join the different games they have set up and the raffle draw that would give away exciting prizes courtesy of IT&amp;E, Big Dipper, Pacific Islands Club, Saipan Grand Hotel, DFS, and Shenanigans, among others.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, email principal@brilliantstar.org or call 323-STAR (7827).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Clarissa David Reporter Brilliant Star School expects to boost its kite sales on the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4712","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-life-and-style"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4712","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4712"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4712\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4712"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=4712"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4712"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
