{"id":47695,"date":"1999-08-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1999-08-14T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/94dda53e-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"1999-08-14T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"1999-08-14T00:00:00","slug":"94dda554-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/94dda554-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"RESULTS OF THE 1999 Big League World Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First Game: Puerto Rico 28, Far East 1<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI, Far-East Big League champs, suffered its first loss in the 30th Big League World Series in Tucson, Arizona to Powerhouse Puerto Rico 28-1.<\/p>\n<p>Puerto Rico rallied for 6 runs in the first inning on 5 hits off Tito Santos and scored 11 more runs in the second inning on 6 hits and a couple of errors by CNMI fielders.<\/p>\n<p>Their offensive attack is too much for CNMI squad, which scored their lone run in the 4th inning when Eric Lizama reached base on a walk and was sent in by Robert Bansil, who hit a solid drive to the right.<\/p>\n<p>The game is cut short due to the ten run mercy rule.<\/p>\n<p>Overall Puerto Rico erupted with 20 hits against CNMI&#8217;s 2.<\/p>\n<p>Second Game: Canada 16, Far East 6<\/p>\n<p>It started out very tight at 4 a piece before CNMI took a one run lead, 5-4, in the second inning when disaster came. Canada scored in the next three innings to cut the game short on a ten run mercy rule.<\/p>\n<p>Josh Muna was spectacular on the mound during the first three innings when the Far-East started to choke. A couple of errors in the 4th, 5th and 6th was the deciding factor that caused the game and that really hurt the pitcher.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Bansil led the Far-East offense with 2 hits in two trips to the plate, including a hard drive triple over the head of the right fielder. Jester Garcia, Jerome Delos Santos with single and an RBI, while Tito Santos with a triple and one RBI.<\/p>\n<p>CNMI&#8217;s resident representative to Washington John N. Babauta was present during the Far-East game against Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p>So far Puerto Rico takes a commanding 2-0 lead along with team Canada, and the two will meet on Aug. 11th.<\/p>\n<p>The Far-East and Europe remain at 0-2.
