The trainee, Ms. Johanna Ada, 18, currently a senior at Marianas High School, provided clerical assistance to the staff.<\/p>\n<p>During her last day at the DD Council, the Executive Director, Mr. Thomas J. Camacho, presented Johanna with a certificate of award for maintaining a perfect time and attendance record throughout the training period.<\/p>\n<p>Johanna was, in every sense, a truly dedicated trainee employee, despite her developmental disability. According to Mr. Thomas J. Camacho, &#8220;we want to inform the general community, employers especially, that employees with (developmental) disabilities are just as productive, if not more, than employees Without disabilities.<br \/>\nAlso, they take their jobs very seriously. Johanna&#8217;s perfect time and attendance record speaks for itself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Mr. Camacho points out that the ADA&#8217;S (Americans with Disabilities Act) mandates on reasonable accommodation (for employees With disabilities) do work and can be affordable for employers, as studies and data suggest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Governor&#8217;s Developmental Disabilities<br \/>\nCouncil (or DD Council) sponsored a JTPA summer trainee for six weeks beginning June 21 through August 6, 1999.
