{"id":48227,"date":"1999-10-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1999-10-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/950676fe-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"1999-10-01T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"1999-10-01T00:00:00","slug":"95067712-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/95067712-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Clean-up Brigade to assist in wetland planting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As October is Arbor Month, the Clean-up Brigade will take a break from picking up garbage from the ground in order to plant something valuable instead.<\/p>\n<p>The Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is constructing a wetland in American Memorial Park, and the project will get a big boost from the Brigade this Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Members will meet at the park to plant trees within the wetland. &#8220;Other parts of the community, such as Marianas High School and the Hyatt Hotel, have helped out with the tree planting,&#8221; says Brigade organizer Clarissa Tanaka. &#8220;We think it&#8217;s the type of event the Clean-up Brigade should take part in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The DEQ-sponsored Brigade meets this Saturday, October 2 at 8:00 am at American Memorial Park in Garapan. Members are asked to wear clothing and footwear that they don&#8217;t mind getting dirty or wet. They should also bring a small shovel or trowel for digging. The planting will last until about 10:00 am after which the group will break for beverages.<\/p>\n<p>T-shirts are given to Clean-up Brigade members who participate in at least three events.
