More than 300 ballots will be mailed out this week by the Board of Elections for registered CNMI voters who are off-island, an election official said Friday.<\/p>\n
“We have advised off-island voters to fill in the ballots and mail them back to us as soon as they received them,” BOE Executive Director Greg Sablan said.<\/p>\n
Most of the off-island voters are students who are enrolled in schools and universities.<\/p>\n
Ballots from the absentee voters will be opened at the same time with the ones cast in the CNMI, Sablan said.<\/p>\n
The counting, to be held at the Multi-purpose Center, will start immediately after the elections, Sablan added.<\/p>\n
The board closed the voters’ registration last Thursday.<\/p>\n
Sablan said more than 14,000 voters have registered for the political exercise, which involves elections for senators, House members, municipal councilors, and Board of Education members.<\/p>\n
The board is now in the process of validating the ballots that will be used for the Nov. 6 midterm elections.<\/p>\n
