{"id":48323,"date":"1999-10-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1999-10-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/950ec438-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"1999-10-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"1999-10-11T00:00:00","slug":"950ec44c-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/950ec44c-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"BOE to mail out ballots\nto absentee voters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 300 ballots will be mailed out this week by the Board of Elections for registered CNMI voters who are off-island, an election official said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have advised off-island voters to fill in the ballots and mail them back to us as soon as they received them,&#8221; BOE Executive Director Greg Sablan said.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the off-island voters are students who are enrolled in  schools and universities.<\/p>\n<p>Ballots from the absentee voters will be opened at the same time with the ones cast in the CNMI, Sablan said.<\/p>\n<p>The counting, to be held at the Multi-purpose Center, will start immediately after the elections, Sablan added.<\/p>\n<p>The board closed the voters&#8217; registration last Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Sablan said more than 14,000 voters have registered for the political exercise, which involves elections for senators, House members, municipal councilors, and Board of Education members.<\/p>\n<p>The board is now in the process of validating the ballots that will be used for the Nov. 6 midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>Political parties and independent candidates have launched their election campaign, and the board has reminded them to observe the elections laws.
