Pedro P. Tenorio on Friday signed a proclamation declaring Nov. 8-14 as Veterans Week in the CNMI to honor men and women whom he said have &#8220;served and sacrificed to keep us free&#8221; in the past several years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are America&#8217;s Veterans but, as we approach the end of the old century and the beginning of the new, we describe them as America&#8217;s twentieth century heroes,&#8221; he said in his proclamation.<\/p>\n<p>Over 25 million living veterans throughout the nation &#8212; half of the number of people who served in the U.S. armed forces &#8212; are still alive today to witness their efforts that have helped the country become a world leader, according to the governor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Through the turmoil and change of the Twentieth Century, one thing has remained constant &#8212; the dedication and commitment of our veterans to the survival and strength of this nation,&#8221; said Tenorio.<\/p>\n<p>He urged citizens and different local organizations to observe the week of Nov. 8-14 with appropriate ceremonies and activities to honor the veterans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
