It was a day when two putts from within 10 feet were a good effort. And when you’re standing on the fairway on hole #14 after laying up to hit your third shot with a wood in your hand imagining all the bad things that could go wrong, your best hope is to walk away with a double bogie. You could hear fits echoing across fairways and golf clubs being slammed into bags. Even deep impressions on greens – not ball marks – were evidence of the frustrations.

After 18 punishing holes none of the players who showed up that day to play the Refaluwasch Golf Association’s November Ace tournament could turn in a score better than the 69 shot by Jesse Stol in the qualifying round.

Stol is officially the November Ace of the Month winner. With home turf advantage, Joe Mafnas managed to hold it together for a gross score of 81 and a net score of 69 to claim first place followed by Jess Wabol, who shot a gross score of 77 and a net score of 73 for second place.

Ben Norita came in third with a gross score of 90 and a net score of 74.

Trying to maintain balance is a challenge when the wind is howling and blowing so hard you could lose your shirt on a bad take-away.

[4

post-48756","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news
["GET
