The Family and Consumer Sciences staff of the NMC Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Service at Northern Marianas College will be holding a mini-workshop on making jam for the holidays.<\/p>\n
Two sessions offered:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saturday, December 4th from 9:00 a.m..-12:00 p.m., and<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saturday, December 11th from 9:00 a.m..-12:OO p.m.<\/p>\n
Topics include:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Getting started – what do I need?<\/p>\n
\u2022 Canning basics<\/p>\n
\u2022 Food Safety with regard to canning practices<\/p>\n
\u2022 Regular and no sugar recipes for canning<\/p>\n
The free workshop will include classroom teaching and hands on training. Emphasis will be placed on using locally grown fruits for canning and saving money in the process.<\/p>\n
Class size is limited to 12 participants per session, so call early to reserve.<\/p>\n
