Hyatt Regency Saipan will get into the Christmas spirit in a big way this weekend as it hosts a special performance by students of the Do Re Mi School of Music on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2:00 p.m. in Gilligan’s.<\/p>\n
Described as an afternoon dedicated to children, proceeds will help the Hyatt Regency Saipan and Hyatt Hotels International meet their goals of raising $2 million to assist orphaned, underprivileged, and sick children throughout the world. Part of the proceeds will also benefit the Commonwealth Health Center Volunteers
\nAssociation.<\/p>\n
The public can expect to hear musicians of all ages performing a wide variety of violin music, including a number of solo performances. As part of their repertoire, the 19 performers will include substantial selection of Christmas music, in addition to classical selections by Bach, Mozart, Corelli, and Wieniawski.<\/p>\n
“Normally, the school performs a recital once a year,” said Hyatt General manager Mustafa Issa. “We thought it would be a wonderful way for people to enjoy some special holiday music and at the same time help out a really good cause.”<\/p>\n
According to Mr. Issa, each person who attends will also receive a ticket for the Children of the World Charity Sweepstakes. The ticket is included in the $10 admission fee for the concert. Prizes for the charity promotion include roundtrip ticket airline tickets and overnight hotel accommodations to places such as Bali, Korea,
\nHong Kong, Japan, Hawaii, Guam and Saipan. The grand prize, which will be drawn on Dec. 31, is a 1999 Volkswagen Bug, a special purchase from Triple J Motors. The vehicle is currently on display in the hotel’s lobby. Anyone who enters the sweepstakes will have a chance to win the car, which has a retail value of more than $28,000.<\/p>\n
